LECTURESHIPS:

Seek the Way to Salvation as Found in the Scripture

What Must I Do To Be Saved, is a great question that mankind must face in life. The greatness of that question is seen in the fact that it is connected to the significance of the soul, the problem of sin, and the plan of salvation revealed in the Scripture. Because of the grace, mercy, and love of God, the Son of God provided the means, and the way to salvation by his sacrifice on the cross, where he died for all (Titus 2:11-12; Hebrews 2:9; 5:8-9; John 14:6).

God loves all, Jesus died for all and all can be saved (1 Timothy 2:4; John 3:16; Titus 2:13-14; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9; Matthew 7:13-14; Romans 6:16-18) but that does demand a decision on the part of man, a choice must be made to submit one's will to His Will as one obeys what He demands. So, the question, "What Must I Do To Be Saved?" must be answered according to the Scripture.

What Must I Do To Be Saved?

It is God’s desire for all to be saved (1 Timothy 2:4). God has made it possible for mankind to be saved. By His grace, love, and mercy salvation through Jesus Christ is available to all (Titus 2:11-12; Romans 5:8; Ephesians 2:8-9, 16).

In God’s Word, we read about the plan by which God declares sinful man righteous (Romans 1:16-17). To receive salvation and to stand justified in His sight, His Word must be obeyed (Matthew 7:21-23; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9). When we obey the Gospel, we will become a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17); a servant of righteousness (Romans 6:16-18); a member of the kingdom of Christ, being added to His church (Acts 2:47). To be in Christ spiritually is to have all spiritual blessings (Ephesians 1:3). How do we get into Christ and receive these spiritual blessings, including salvation?

  • Hear the Word – Romans 10:17

  • Believe in Christ – John 8:24

  • Repent of sin – Luke 13:3

  • Confess Christ – Matthew 10:32-33

  • Be Baptized – Mark 16:16

After obeying the Gospel, if Heaven is to be our home in the hereafter, one must live a life of dedication and devotion (1 Corinthians 15:58). Yes, God demands faithfulness of His children (Revelation 2:10).

Remember, salvation from our past sins and ultimately in Heaven is impossible apart from the grace, love, and mercy of God and the blood of Jesus Christ. God has provided the way, the means to salvation, and a place in Heaven. Salvation is a gift, but it must be accepted. God does not force salvation on any one nor will He force anyone to go to Heaven. Man, therefore has a part in his salvation. Yes, salvation has a divine side as well as a human side. There is God’s part but there is also man’s part. To deny either or both is to deny what the Bible has revealed to us concerning “What Must I Do To Be Saved.”
